All Allmer Games are designed to be as intuitive and easy to learn as possible. Elements is no exception, being playable “right out the box”. To become good however takes time as there are some hidden strategies only true samurai have mastered.

There are parallels such as laying fitting cards on a staple but Elements offers more strategic variety because players are able to lay out several cards at once in the direction they choose. Special moves such as drawing cards or changing the games direction don’t require additional cards but happen automatically when mistakes are made.
The quick gameplay is more engaging without getting complex for casual players. Elements unique charm has also been recognised by critics such as Spieletest.at.
