Believe

2-8 Players I 8+

Never lie. Unless you can pull it off.

100 Cards. Endless Stories

Use cards to create unbelievable stories.

These can be true or false.

But don’t let your audience know.

You only win by fooling people.

Rulebook

Game Components

  • 100 Story Cards

  • 1 Believe Coin

Game Setup

The first storyteller is chosen at random.

The game runs clockwise.

  1. Select Cards: Each storyteller draws between 1-3 cards from the deck. These cards are kept secret and are not shown to other players initially.

  2. Prepare to Tell Your Story:

    • Study your cards for a brief time (under 1 minute).

    • Place your Believe Coin on the Truth or Lie side under the cover to indicate the nature of your story.

    • Tell your story based on the chosen cards.

Story Requirements

  • The story must be something out of the ordinary.

  • If summarised to one sentence, all drawn cards and the optional lie must play a vital part in the narrative.

Story Judgement Phase

  1. Ask a Question: After the story is told, the other each player may ask one question together to the storyteller.

  2. Individual Judgement:

    • Each player, starting from the one to the storyteller’s left, makes an individual judgement with their hand about the storyteller’s claim (Thumbs Up = Truth, Thumbs Down = Lie).

Scoring

  • Your Believe Coin is revealed to all players.

  • If you were able to fool at least half of the audience, you keep the cards.

  • The game is won by the first player to have collected 10 or more cards.

  • After the first player wins, the game may continue to determine placements.

Believe Variants

Hide the Lie The faster-paced sibling to Classic. Draw 3 cards, tell 3 quick unrelated stories — but one is a lie! Can your opponents spot which card tells the truth? A game of quick thinking and misdirection.

Objects A completely different way to play. Instead of telling stories, players lay down attribute cards trying to describe a secret real-world object. The next player can either keep adding cards or call FALSE — forcing the previous player to name their object and prove it's real.

Note: Objects requires a special 80-card deck featuring Scale, Material, Temperature, Dynamic, and Origin categories. These cards are currently only available in the digital Arcade version.
